Introduction
MatchPaint (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how MatchPaint collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our website at https://matchpaint.app, the MatchPaint mobile app distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and MatchPaint Pro Desktop distributed outside the mobile app stores. Please read this policy carefully. By using MatchPaint, you agree to the practices described herein.
This policy has been prepared to satisfy the privacy policy requirements of the Apple App Store Review Guidelines, Google Play’s User Data Policy, and the MatchPaint Pro Desktop workflow.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
MatchPaint does not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or payment details to use the App.
1.2 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
All data generated through your use of MatchPaint is stored exclusively on your device using your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB). This data never leaves your device and includes:
- Color Palettes — colors you save, name, or organize into palettes
- Recent Colors — a history of colors you have recently sampled or matched
- App Settings & Preferences — your in-app configuration choices
- Imported Color Libraries — custom swatch library files, such as .ASE, .ACB, .XML, and CorelDRAW .CPL, you choose to import
We have no access to any of this data, and it is never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party.
1.3 Camera
MatchPaint requests access to your device’s camera solely for the following purposes:
- Live Color Sampling — to identify and match paint colors from real-world surfaces in real time
- Barcode Scanning — to scan paint color chip barcodes and retrieve the associated color information from our on-device database
Camera data, meaning the live video feed, is processed entirely on-device in real time. No images, video frames, or camera data are captured, recorded, stored, or transmitted to any external server or third party.
1.4 MatchPaint Mobile
MatchPaint Standard and MatchPaint+ for mobile are designed to keep color matching, barcode-assisted paint lookup, palette storage, imported libraries, and image sampling on your device. The mobile app does not require a MatchPaint account and does not send your saved palettes, imported .ASE/.ACB libraries, sampled colors, camera feed, uploaded images, or barcode scans to MatchPaint servers.
1.5 MatchPaint Pro Desktop
MatchPaint Pro Desktop follows the same local-first privacy model. Desktop palettes, imported libraries, color matches, project workflow data, and screen color sampling results are processed and stored locally on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
The Desktop Pro screen picker may temporarily capture the visible pixels on your display so it can magnify and sample the exact color under your cursor. This screen capture is used only during the active color picking session, is processed locally, is not saved to disk by MatchPaint, and is not transmitted to MatchPaint or any third party.
1.6 Website
The MatchPaint website at https://matchpaint.app is intended to provide product information, pricing, privacy information, and links to app distribution channels. We do not use the website to create user accounts, track users across other websites, or collect behavioral analytics for advertising.
If you contact us by email, we will receive the email address you use and the contents of your message. We use that information only to respond to your inquiry and provide support.
1.7 Photo Library / Image Uploads
You may choose to upload a photo from your device’s photo library or file system for color sampling. Uploaded images are:
- Processed locally and entirely on-device to extract color information
- Not stored persistently beyond the active session
- Not transmitted externally under any circumstances
- Discarded automatically when you navigate away from the image sampling view
1.8 Information We Do Not Collect
MatchPaint does not collect any of the following:
- Personal identifiers, including name, email address, phone number, or postal address
- Precise or approximate location data
- Device advertising identifiers, including IDFA, GAID, or similar identifiers
- Usage analytics, behavioral tracking, or event telemetry
- Crash reports or diagnostic data transmitted to our servers
- Financial or payment information
- Biometric data of any kind
- Health or fitness data
- Contacts, calendar entries, or microphone input
- Web browsing history or search history
2. How We Use Information
Because MatchPaint does not collect or receive personal information from users, there is no personal data for us to use beyond what your own device stores locally to support the App’s core functionality.
Locally stored data is used exclusively to:
- Retain your saved palettes and recent color history between sessions
- Preserve your in-app settings and preferences
- Enable offline functionality through service worker caching of application assets
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, license, trade, rent, or otherwise share your information with any third party — because we do not collect or receive your information in the first place.
MatchPaint does not incorporate any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, marketing platforms, data brokers, or cross-app tracking SDKs.
We may be required to disclose information in response to a valid legal obligation, court order, or government request. However, because we hold no user data on any server, there is nothing available to disclose.
4. Third-Party Services and Open-Source Components
MatchPaint does not integrate with any third-party services that access or collect personal data for color matching, palette storage, imported libraries, camera sampling, image sampling, barcode lookup, or Desktop Pro screen sampling. The App is designed to function locally after installation and does not make outbound requests with your color data on your behalf.
The App uses the following open-source libraries, each of which operates entirely on-device and collects no data:
- Barcode Detector / ZXing — on-device barcode scanning and decoding
- Dexie.js — local IndexedDB database management
- Workbox — service worker management and offline asset caching
None of these components transmit any data externally.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
All data stored by MatchPaint resides exclusively on your device. You have complete control over this data at all times.
To delete your data:
- Use the in-app management features to delete individual palettes, clear your recent color history, or remove imported libraries
- Clear the App’s site data through your device’s browser or system settings
- Uninstalling the App from your device removes all locally stored application data
We hold no copies of your data on any server and have no ability to recover data once it has been deleted from your device.
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), and other regional regulations. These rights may include:
- Access — the right to request information about personal data held about you
- Deletion — the right to request erasure of your personal data
- Correction — the right to request correction of inaccurate data
- Portability — the right to receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-Out — the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data
- Non-Discrimination — the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights
Because MatchPaint does not collect or store any personal information on our systems, these rights are automatically satisfied — there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, export, or delete from our end.

7. Children’s Privacy
MatchPaint is not directed to children under the age of 13, or under the age of 16 in the European Economic Area. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children. Because the App collects no personal information from any user, it does not collect data from children either.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App in a manner that raises a privacy concern, please contact us using the information in Section 10. We will respond promptly.
8. Security
We take the security of your information seriously. Because all data is stored locally on your device and no data is transmitted to external servers:
- Your information is protected by your device’s own security mechanisms, including device encryption, biometric authentication, screen lock, and OS-level application sandboxing
- No data in transit means no risk of interception during transmission
- No server-side storage means no risk of a server-side data breach affecting your information
We recommend keeping your device’s operating system, browser, and the App updated to ensure you benefit from the latest security protections.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy from time to time.
For material changes that may affect your rights or the way the App handles data, we will provide notice within the App where reasonably practicable prior to the change taking effect. Your continued use of the App after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Apple App Store — Additional Disclosures
In connection with Apple’s App Store privacy requirements, known as the Privacy Nutrition Label, we provide the following disclosures:
- Data Used to Track You: None. MatchPaint does not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising or data-broker purposes.
- Data Linked to You: None. MatchPaint does not collect any data that is linked to your identity.
- Data Not Linked to You: None. MatchPaint does not collect any data.
- App Tracking Transparency: MatchPaint does not request the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission and does not engage in cross-app or cross-site tracking.

12. Google Play Store — Data Safety Disclosures
In connection with Google Play’s Data Safety requirements, we provide the following disclosures:
- Data Collection and Sharing: MatchPaint does not collect or share any personal or sensitive user data with us or any third parties.
- Data Encryption: All data stored by the App remains on your device and is protected by your device’s built-in encryption.
- Data Deletion: You may request deletion of your locally stored data at any time by clearing the App’s storage through your device settings or by uninstalling the App. As we hold no server-side data, there is no additional deletion mechanism required.
- Security Practices: MatchPaint follows Google Play’s User Data Policy. The App does not use any sensitive permissions beyond camera access, which is used exclusively for on-device color sampling and barcode scanning as described in Section 1.3.

Camera Permission: The App requests camera access for real-time color sampling and barcode scanning. This data is processed on-device and is never stored, transmitted, or shared.
13. Color Matching Disclaimer
MatchPaint is designed to assist with color discovery, comparison, and paint matching by providing the closest available matches based on digital color data and supported paint libraries. MatchPaint does not guarantee that any suggested match will be an exact visual or physical match in all conditions.
Actual paint appearance may vary due to screen calibration, lighting, surface texture, sheen, substrate, paint formulation, tinting systems, store mixing equipment, application method, drying time, and other real-world conditions outside of MatchPaint’s control. Before purchasing paint or applying it to a project, users should verify all color selections with physical samples, drawdowns, test patches, manufacturer materials, or professional judgment.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MatchPaint is not liable for paint purchases, color discrepancies, application results, labor costs, project delays, repainting, replacement materials, lost profits, or any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from reliance on a MatchPaint color match or recommendation.
14. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which MatchPaint operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under this policy shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
